Do you ever feel just
not good enough?
That no matter what you do , or how hard you try it's never enough?
I know I do.
I think we all do from time to time.
I know that considering counselling can be a daunting prospect. Often, we are so used to putting others needs before our own, that it can almost feel selfish to take care of ourselves.
With me you are in safe hands. I understand how hard it is to take that first step.
I am a warm, down to earth, professional counsellor.
It's my job to help you feel safe and secure, so you feel ready to address whatever issue has brought you to consider counselling.
Together, we will work through your issue at a pace that suits you.
After many years working within the NHS as both a Nurse and a Midwife, I realised the best part of my job, the part that gave me joy , was the connection I made to the people I met.
My love for therapy began in 2014 .As I embarked on my training, I learned that helping others learn to love and accept themselves. To begin to live life on their own terms, really resonated with me, as it was similar to my own personal journey.
I graduated from Strathclyde University as a Person-Centred Counsellor in 2017. Very quickly after I opened my private practice. I also worked at a busy Employee Assistance provider for 3 years, and gained experience at a local hospital , providing counselling for couples experiencing issues with fertility.
When not working in private practice I work as a counsellor within an organisation providing counselling to adult survivors of childhood abuse and trauma . Prior to this, I provided counselling within the NHS for individuals experiencing mental health issues.
On my days off I recharge by reading, walking my dogs and drawing.
I work with Individuals in a Person-Centred way which means you are at the heart of everything we do together.
I won't take up the position of an expert but one of a knowledgeable companion. There won't be homework tasks to complete, but there may be suggestions made for you to consider ,around what may be helpful to assist you to move forward.
I have not lived your life, or felt the pain of your experiences, the only Expert in the room on that is you. However I firmly believe you have the skills and capabilities to work through your issues and I will do my utmost to help you to get there .
With me you will find acceptance and honesty and you will be valued for the individual you are.
I recommend sessions weekly to help us build our therapeutic relationship, they can be Face to face or via the telephone. Sessions will gradually space out as our work together progresses.
